Kelly & Anthony - An Anniversary Post
If rain on your wedding day is lucky (and I personally believe that it is!) then Kelly & Anthony take the lucky cake. Kelly sat in my office the day before her wedding and told me of her concerns that it would rain on her well planned wedding day. It had rained every day that week and the forecast was not looking hopeful. I gave her my best piece of advice. I told her that no matter the weather, her day would be beautiful and at the end she would be married to her soulmate. I also told her that her guests would feed off her energy. And if she was having a great time, they would as well. She took this advice very much to heart and their weddings remains one of my very favorites to this day.
Kelly & Anthony first came out to Stella for a super sweet engagement session with Jay from J. Theriot Decisive Image.
On wedding day, our bride and her lovely maids arrived at Stella and were pampered by Flawless Bride for makeup, while Ashley Guidroz styled hair in the Guest House! The bridal party rocked custom converse along with dresses from Pearl's Place.
The Groom & his men took up residence in the Cook House. They wore dapper gray suits from John’s Tuxedos to complement their rockin' chucks.
Kelly & Anthony opted for a "no look first look" where they stood back to back and read letters to each other before the ceremony. The gazebo and walkways from the Guest House to the Carriage House offered a sweet, covered spot for Dad & Daughter to share a moment before walking down the aisle together. Though the ceremony was originally planned to take place under Stella's 250-year-old oak trees, the Carriage House was a beautiful, intimate setting for K & A's 140 guests.
The rain let up just long enough for guests to walk to the Harold Pavilion to enjoy the reception. The original plan had beautiful lighting outside with the tent open for guests to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. However, just days before the wedding, Kelly and I moved the lighting inside to create a romantic dance floor area and the affect was stunning! Thanks to Event Rental for always being flexible and making the best out of a rainy situation for our couples!
Bittersweet Confections created the four-tiered, delicious cake that the couple cut with the party (and rain) raging behind them. Those covered walkways came in handy once again for Kelly & Anthony's sparkler exit which led them to their getaway car.
Kelly & Anthony returned to Stella a few months after the wedding to get the bridal portraits that the rain foiled on wedding day. Though the day threatened rain again and the wind played a major role in the photos, the end result was magical.
I write this post on their aniversary - and the rain is coming down for the first time in a month. So fitting for my lucky couple. Happiest of Anniversaries to you both. Sending much love and luck from your Stella family!
From Kelly: "Best of the Best! My mom and I went to 11 different venues before checking out Stella Plantation. I knew I wanted an outdoor wedding with that southern charm, without all the noise from the busy streets. Going to Stella I always had in the back of my mind that it was a little too far out but once I arrived, I knew I had to get married under their oak trees! It wasn't until August that I was introduced to Caroline, Stella's event manager. She was amazing! She is always on top of things, always got back to me quick! Fast forward to my wedding day, it was an 80% chance of rain. I knew I wouldn't get my ceremony under the oak trees. Caroline suggested the Carriage house, instead of the tent, which I loved! It had never been done before. Even through the horrible down pour, Caroline took care of it all. I got many compliments on her and how hard she worked to make the day special for us even with the rain pouring down! Stella did not disappoint and I would HIGHLY recommend them! If you're looking for an outdoor, southern wedding, this is the place for you!
